Manchester United Methodist Church Build Days
Volunteers play a vital role in the project's completion. It is extremely important that all scheduled volunteers attend their build day. A shortage of volunteers will ultimately delay the homeowner's closing date.
Important Notes for All Volunteers:
- This is a FULL-DAY volunteer commitment. Volunteers need to arrive by 7:45 a.m. and can expect to stay until 3:30 p.m. Volunteers who arrive after the morning meeting starts will NOT be permitted to stay and build.
- Bring your lunch (and snacks if you need them!). Leaving the site to get lunch is not permitted.
- All Habitat build sites are equipped with water coolers - please bring your own reusable water bottle.
- Come dressed to work! Closed-toe and closed-heel shoes are required. Wear clothing and shoes that you do not mind dirtying. Sunscreen and a hat are advised as well as dressing in layers.
- If you have safety glasses or work gloves that fit you well, you are welcome to bring them (but please note that Habitat is not responsible for lost or damaged items). Habitat will provide everything else you need to get the job done.
- Volunteers MUST be over 16 years of age - no exceptions. Volunteers between 16-18 years old cannot use power tools or work on ladders.
- If you have had a known COVID exposure, have had a positive test, or are simply feeling unwell, we respectfully ask that you do not volunteer for at least 5 days.
- We reserve the right to require face coverings at any time, with or without prior notice, at staff's discretion.
- Volunteers who refuse to follow safety guidelines will be asked to leave the site and not return.
