Building homes. Building hope.
Building Saint Louis.

Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization that was founded on the conviction that every person should have a place to live. We are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and work toward that goal with a comprehensive program in which hard-working St. Louis families invest their time into building, buying, and owning a home. Our volunteers are also an integral part of our program. Each year, around 3,000 volunteers give their time and talent on the build site, in the ReStore, on a committee, or in our office. Join our team as we work to ensure every person in our community has a place to live!

Committees

Looking to sharpen your resume or get more involved in the community? Join a committee! We have a wide variety of committees at Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis that focus on everything from family selection to young professional development and networking. Committees typically meet on weeknights at our Administrative Office located at 3830 South Grand. For more information on committees, read below!

Family Services

A Family Services member is a compassionate, caring, organized volunteer who can do paperwork, is detail oriented and is good at information evaluation. This volunteer also must have people skills and enjoy interacting with applicants. Committee Members work with the Director of Family Services and the homebuyer families prior to, during and after the build. Committee members help provide guidance and encouragement to the families so that they fulfill their obligations of becoming successful homebuyers. Committee members continue to work with families after closing to ensure that they adjust to homeownership and are productive, well-rounded community members. The Family Services Committee meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:00pm at the Habitat Saint Louis Administrative Office. For more information or to join the committee, please contact Avis McHugh at avis@habitatstl.org.

Leading Edge Committee

Leading Edge is responsible for the recruitment, training, retention and support of Construction Leaders before, during and after the build. It provides continued construction education and social opportunities. The Leading Edge Committee meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:00pm at the Habitat Saint Louis Administrative Office. For more information or to join the committee, please contact the Volunteer Services Department at volunteers@habitatstl.org.

Special Events Committee

Love attending our Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis special events? Or just enjoy working behind-the-scenes to make things happen? Consider joining the Habitat Saint Louis Special Events Committee! The committee participates in planning the events including soliciting gift/auction donations, decorating, and volunteering during events. Contact Amy Tompkins, Marketing and Community Outreach Manager, for more information (amy@habitatstl.org).

Women Build

Women Build provides an opportunity for women to work together to learn new skills and make new friends while building a home with a family in need. No experience is necessary as volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals, and also alongside other volunteers and future Habitat homeowners. Whether you are learning new skills or simply adding a few to your tool belt, this is a rewarding experience for all involved, and improves the community that you share. Women Build is also a terrific way to involve your friends and family of all ages in crucial work with a lasting impact. Women helping women sends a positive and powerful message. The committee is always looking for new members to join in creating safe and affordable housing for all! Contact Amy Tompkins, Marketing and Community Outreach Manager, for more information (amy@habitatstl.org).

Habitat Young Professionals

Habitat Young Professionals is a group that engages young adults (21-40) in the work of Habitat Saint Louis. Young Professionals members meet for networking opportunities and happy hours, have build days on the Habitat construction sites and host other fun events. This is a group of people who are looking to get involved in their community, have some fun and make new friends all at the same time! For more information or to join Habitat Young Professionals, please contact Amy Tompkins at amy@habitatstl.org
