Building homes. Building hope.
Building Saint Louis.

Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization that was founded on the conviction that every person should have a place to live. We are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and work toward that goal with a comprehensive program in which hard-working St. Louis families invest their time into building, buying, and owning a home. Our volunteers are also an integral part of our program. Each year, around 3,000 volunteers give their time and talent on the build site, in the ReStore, on a committee, or in our office. Join our team as we work to ensure every person in our community has a place to live!

Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis for non court-ordered community service is simple. When you first volunteer with us, whether on the build site or in the ReStore, ask for an orange timecard and log your hours on this card. When you have finished volunteering for the day, ask Habitat staff to initial your card to prove you volunteered that day. Do not forget to bring your orange timecard every time you volunteer. Once you are ready to get a validation letter, follow the instructions below.

Court-Ordered Community Service

If you wish to complete court-ordered community service hours, please CLICK HERE to begin the screening process. The screening process is required and hours will not be validated by any Habitat staff for volunteers who have not been approved.

Individuals not able to volunteer with us are those who have been charged with or plead guilty to one of any of the following offenses, including but not limited to: armed robbery, assault, aggravated assault, kidnapping, arson, robbery, and statutory offenses (sexual abuse, sexual assault, and rape). Individuals charged with or having pleaded guilty to the following offenses can be approved on a case-by-case basis: DWI, DUI, drug possession, drug sale offenses, violation of probation, burglary or theft.

As with non court-ordered community service, you must have a Habitat staff person initial your card at the end of the volunteer day or shift. Once you have completed your required hours, follow the instructions on receiving a letter of validation.

Receiving a Validation Letter

Once you have reached your desired or required hours of service, email both sides of the time card to volunteers@habitatstl.org or mail/drop it off at: Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis, Attn: Volunteer Services, 3830 South Grand Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63118. Your request will be processed within two weeks of receipt and a letter will be e-mailed or mailed to the address given.

For additional questions please contact volunteers@habitatstl.org.

Validation letters will not be sent if we have not received your timecard. We do not send validation letters for individuals completing court-ordered community service who did not go through screening. NO exceptions!
