ReStore Des Peres for Individuals

Volunteers play a vital role in making the ReStore a success. It is extremely important that all scheduled volunteers attend their work day. A shortage of volunteers will affect the ReStore’s productivity and efficiency. Only volunteers who have registered will be permitted to stay and work. Additional volunteers will be sent home if the ReStore is at capacity. Important Notes for All Volunteers: Volunteers MUST be over 16 years of age. NO EXCEPTIONS! Volunteers between 16-18 years old cannot use power tools or work on ladders. 16 and 17 year olds should download and print a waiver here, have it signed by a parent and/or legal guardian, and bring a signed copy to the build site. Volunteers will need to provide any lunch or snacks they require. Leaving the ReStore for lunch is not permitted. All volunteers must arrive at the ReStore on time. If you arrive more then 15 minutes after your scheduled start time you may not be permitted to stay and work. Please dress appropriately for the weather as the ReStore is only moderately heated and cooled throughout the year. All volunteers MUST wear closed toed/heeled shoes as well and clothing you do not mind getting dirty or stained. Volunteers might be asked to do some painting projects, so please dress accordingly. Feel free to bring work gloves. We require at least one adult (i.e. persons 21 years old or older) for every 5 youth under the age of 18 years old. Please note that ReStore Des Peres will typically close at 4:45pm on the first Thursday of each month. All volunteer shifts will end at this time regardless of scheduled volunteer time. Do you need to an official record of your volunteer time? See the Community Service Hours Brochure for the steps necessary to get a validation letter from Habitat for Humanity St. Louis. (This program applies to court-ordered community service, corporate giving matches, high school graduation requirements, professional licensing/development requirements, etc.)

Volunteer Orientation

We ask all individual volunteers to attend Volunteer Orientation prior to volunteering on our build site or in the ReStore. At orientation, we share the history of Habitat of Humanity Saint Louis, our mission, goals and programs. We introduce you to our homebuyers and volunteers as well as review what volunteer opportunities are avaiable and how you can sign up. You only need to attend one time no matter how many years you volunteer. Group leaders are invited to attend and gather information to share with group members prior to their build day; however, the entire group is not required to attend prior to volunteering. Due to the limited opportunities for construction volunteers on Saturdays, community service volunteers need to consider signing up for ReStore volunteering, office help or other volunteer opportunities. Thank you for your interest in helping to eliminate substandard housing!

Building homes. Building hope.
Building Saint Louis.

Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization that was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent place to live. We are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and work toward that goal with a comprehensive program in which hard-working St. Louis families invest their time into actually building, buying and owning a home. Our volunteers are also an integral part of our program. Each year, around 3,000 volunteers give their time and talent on the build site, in the ReStore, on a committee or in our office. Join our team as we work to ensure every man, woman and child in our community has a decent place to live.</</
